dudes, i have a BOG STANDARD escom a1200 (only expansion is a floppy drive addon). sometimes, it sticks on bootup. What i get kinda looks like when you have a PC set to the wrong resolution and the screen "spins" on the monitor, except its very fast and sticks there untill i turn off the miggy. It happens i would say... once in every 10 bootups? not really a problem, more curious.
cheers
kev :-o

with bootup u mean what? power on the machine or booting a hdd / floppy ?
remeber ntsc/pal and other monitor drivers should be sorted out for your system.
which monitor do u use?
if its not a wb boot then my guess is...reseat the 3.1 rom's in it... take em out and put em back in...or just PRESS em firmly onto the sockets again..
hope it helps...
more info would be appriciated.

ok ok , im on about the initial bootup, its HDD enabled but this is way before that. Y'know when you get the gray screen and some black then it boots, etc. there. almost as soon as i power her up. Dont stress about it, just if anyones come across this before let me know. cheers.

What sort of monitor?
If it's a multisync, the monitor could be at fault. It might be picking the proper rate nine times out of ten.
If it's a 1084... Time to question the Amiga itself.

its running on my TV through the composites...
-
Have you tried 'wiggling' the cable and composite in on the tv and Amiga? If there's a bad connection there it would produce about what you describe.
-
Yah tried that. Im thinking its an internal problem, or maybe a jittery PSU? seems to do it more on warm boots.
-
Ok, I still think the problem is in the composite bit, maybe something loose in the amiga? Have you tried using the RGB output or RF instead? If it's worse when it's warm it could be a bad solder joint. They usually get worse when they get warm, but it would probably be there all the time.
-
Yeah tried an RF modulator too - same thing.

Its not going into NTSC is it? Can your tv handle 60Hz? I seem to think that if you press space on boot screen, it switches from PAL to NTSC.
-
Tv handles pal / NTSC so that aint no problem. It aint that. Definatley not.
