Maybe I'm older and slower, but does anyone else find R-type on the Amiga to be difficult as hell? I used to play the TurboGrafx-16 version, and I just don't recall it being quite so intense.

Console versions are for wimps ... Amiga R-Type is for the hardcore gamer! :lol:

Anyone seen the version on xbox 360. Got both rytpe I and II games on there. Plus you can change from classic view to 2.5 view on the fly.
Its pretty cool. If you got a 360 download thee demo.

I´ve never played R Type on the Amiga :-( I love this game. It was my favorite on the Spectrum
It doesn´t run on my A1200 :-( :-( :-(
I will try it on UAE :-)

Just a FYI.. It does work great under WHDLOAD on my Amiga 1200... Might want to try that.
I'll have to check out the xbox 360 version...

My original works fine using Relokick ... or there's WHDload as previously mentioned :-)

IIRC there's hardly any difference between these two.

Thanks for the tip! I will try that.
@ZeBeeDee
I´ve tried relockick before, but couldn´t make it work that way. Maybe I did something wrong...

@AeroMan
Use this version and disable the CPU caches.

I can't remember the various parameters and switches listed in the docs as it's been a while, but the following table has been taken from my HD ...
ADR $008 (0.5mb Chip RAM)
ADR $010 (1.0mb Chip RAM)
ADR $018 (1.5mb Chip RAM)
ADR $01C (1.75mb Chip RAM)
Good luck! :-)

I had Amiga R-Type, as it was a big favorite when I was in college. Dumped a lot of quarters into that thing..
Anyway, I figured out why it was so dang hard, even tho the graphics and sounds were nearly pixel perfect replicants of the arcade version-my disk was PAL, and it was playing 20 percent fast-it was hard coded for 50hz displays!
Sadly, I accidentally killed my disk by ejecting it with the light on :-( Anyone got an NTSC version of R-Type that they'd like to sell?

maybe the R-Type 2 adf they offer on Back 2 the Roots (http://www.back2roots.org/Games/ADF-Games/R/) is NTSC, you might try.
