I have been working on getting the games I own out of the packs and transferring them to the Amiga. I in order to save time decompressed the Big zip and little zips on the PC. I have read on the ClassicWB Page not to do that because it can corrupt some Amiga files. (at least on the classic WB install)
I was wondering if the same is true for the files in the packs? because some do not work. I just added a MBX 1200z with 4 Meg ram so I should have enough ram to play game made to run on the Amiga with out expansion. VIA Disk of course. The ones that seem to always fail are the AGA Versions of the games.
Please help

Decompress the 'big zips' on the pc then transfer the 'little zips' to the Amiga and decompress them there.
I've had trouble in the past with decompressing the 'little zips' on the PC then transferring them to the Amiga but cured it using the above method. Something to do with the differences Amiga and PC's store filenames??? I dunno ... :-?

Amiga filesystems can handle characters which are not allowed in Windows so when you unpack them on Windows the 'illegal' characters get replaced with 'legal' ones, so the files get renamed and therefore don't work!
For example, both * and \ can appear in amiga filenames but can't under Windows.
There are not THAT many games that suffer from this but it's always best to unpack the little zips on the amiga just to be safe.
