Where to begin? Ah, at the beginning! I remember now. Yes it was some time ago, last year on some dark and rainy night when I foolishly clicked on some links and found out I was indeed the the winner of buster version 11 on ebay!
That fleeting half drunken joy, I would learn later would be all I would receive in this transaction. Some time past and I eventually received some dreadful news from my counter part, thevintageamigan. It seems he was way behind with his parcels but assured us he was doing all in his power to make good on the outstanding transactions. It was at that moment I realized I was not alone in my brooding and loathing for Mr. thevintageamigan.
No, clearly I was just taking part in a long line of orphaned patrons with nothing to show but high hopes:

Months past. Spring approached, and still no Buster. I await sir your final correspondence, and to produce the buster 11.
:getmad:

@TheGoose
Welcome to the club dude... fortunately I already got my refund after a painful bid/wait/dispute/claim process... you should waste no time and fill a paypal claim, if you haven't received your chip chances are you never will.
Good luck,
cheers

I wonder what his official excuse is now? This is at least the 2nd complaint on him I've read recently. You don't know what to believe anymore these days, but if the guy has a good excuse for this lax behaviour, he should at least *try* to communicate a little better. Sounds like refunds are definitely in order. Too bad it usually takes a 3rd party moderator to get things done now-a-days.

Seeing as he's no longer a registered ebay member I'd think the chances of him shipping anything now are nil.

I opened a claim with PayPal a full month after I'd won an item from him, and after his eBay account was "no longer a registered member."
A couple of days later, he provided tracking info to PayPal, which they shared with me, and I did indeed receive the item I'd purchased, 1.5 months or so after the order.
Of couse, it was a $12 item or something, but it eventually came (after I no longer needed it, of course.)

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I purchased an A4000D over christmas and I received it four weeks later. What really bugged me is I corresponded with him before I bought it. He said if I buy it now and pay for it, you will have it at the end of the week. I sent him three emails. On the third I said I am going to dispute this with ebay. I then got an email saying it was shipped with a tracking number. He did deliver everything he promised. I did find out the other day on ebay that his account is "no longer a registered member" as well.
-
now the question is what is his new account

Well, I guess my message to him via ebay today will go no where if he's not a seller? I asked him to just send the money back via paypal.
Message seemed to go through though, account still existed, just not a seller?

I bought a video toaster off the guy late last year, things took some time but that was partially me for late payment, haven't tested it however it looks like its in good condition.

Hans Georg Campbell. Doommaster. Retrogeek.
I'm sure we could go on and on with this......
-
Yep that guy deserves a good old asswhooping... Anyways you should file a complaint trough PayPal resolution center to get your money back. Worked well for me and for that I'm happy.
-
I guess I got lucky... I bought CityBuilder set for Lightwave from him, it took 3 weeks before I even got any E-Mail... finally did ship the item, tho... Even gave an extra Lightwave object set for the delay.... But, the whole thing bothers me no end.... especially after reading everyone's horror stories... IS there some way to report this guy to EBay, and keep him from re-registering under a different name???
-
Vamigan???
-
I bought an A2000 accelerator from him...it took a month to get here but arrive it did...and in extremely good working order.
-
I bought an A4000 from him a year ago, arrived promptly and works fine.
Later on, one of my workbench disks became corrupt and I emailed him asking if he could send me a replacement, and he did, no issues whatsoever.
Im sorry to see that people have had issues dealing with him, I found it very surprising to see that his Ebay acct has been cancelled. I can only postulate right now that he's going through some issues offline that have prevented him from completing his orders in a prompty manner. Bad Economy and all that.

Wouldn't it be cool if you could hire like an ebay ninja to go take care of {bleep} like this for you?
ebay ninja WTF143, do you understand your objectives?
1. locate and destroy thevintageamigan AKA Doommaster
2. recover special object: buster v11
3. report back to home base
4. disappear
I think after i get laid off this is what I'm gonna do.
Yeah ebayninjas.com , Now just gotta find me some ninjas.
:inquisitive:

I dont think VintageAmigan is an alias for Doomy. For one thing, when I bought the A4000, it wasnt located in Beaverton, Oregon. :D
On a Doomy note, anyone noticed that his RetrogeekComputers site is down? Forgot to pay his hosting bills or did the law finally catch up with him?
-
Vamigan isn't Doomy.
And as far as I know, it isn't a he it is a she.
I had a good transaction with Vamigan last year, so maybe this is a clone?

RetroGeek mostly deals on craigslist nowadays with Atari ST and Amiga stuff. I noticed he was trying to sell old Chinon floppy drives out of Amigas for $180 or so... When I questioned him about it, he was extremely rude and started swearing at me left and right and insulting me, calling me a "cheap {bleep}" and such.
He seems to have been somewhat of a regular poster for a while on EAB, and it doesn't seem that he was well respected there either. The guy's a jerk, and he should be lucky I moved away..I used to live no more than a stone's throw from Beaverton. (Though it's very likely that I'll move back to the Portland area within sixth months, so if so, consider me a ninja for hire)
I also once offered him $700 for an A4000/030 on Craigslist, plus a Mega STe, and he yet again was rude, and said that my offer was a waste of his reading time, and that he was planning to sell it to someone "serious".
If I dig deep enough, I might be able to come up with his phone number and address, as he was trying to do a deal with me in person once...if I find it, I'll be more than happy to mail the guy a box of my solid excrement on a cracker.

Looks like the domain name for 'ol doomy has expired and he hasn't yet re-registered.
It does look a bit suspicious that both doomy and thevintageamigan both disappear within a few days of each other. It appears that thevintageamigan has had his/her ebay account cancelled or suspended possibly due to the amount of ebay/paypal complaints against it - something that should have happened to doomy long ago.
-
QUICK, park the domain :)
-
From what I've discovered, the retrogeekcomputers.com domain lease expired February 01, 2009. However, the registrar allows the domain to be re-registered by the original domain buyer (ol 'Only Amiga' doomy) within a 30 day grace period before the domain is offically recycled and put back out for registration.
So unless doomy re-registers by March 01, 2009 the domain will be free for anyone to own (if they can live with the shame of being linked to doomy forever that is lol).
Oh I can see the hoards of potential buyers just lining up for this one ... NOT!
-
I would suggest someone buys it and just point it at amibay.com :D
-
Not that it matters but I suppose it could have been "Boogiegail" too. The auction styles and prices were somewhat similar to hers if I remember right. I had several positive dealings with "TheVintageAmigan". I guess I am lucky I quit while I was ahead :-o
-
Boogiegail was who came to my mind also. She (he?) came to a similiar end and sold similar items. I still would like to know where they get all of the excellent condition A4000's. Towards the end Boogiegail was into stripping down the computers and selling the components. I also have ended up being lucky and not losing money with either of these sellers, but it was close both times.

TURN OF EVENTS TODAY!
Just another experience to bolster my belief that negative reinforcement works; I got my chip shipped. Too bad the universe must operate under these conditions:

I would like to share my experience with him (or she)
I bought a couple of memories for my A3000.
I paid same day.
1 week...2 weeks...3 weeks, nothing, not even a single mail from him (she)
Suddenly, i received a snip mail, where there was an explanation, a "slight delay" in shippig due to overwork or something like that
He/she, said sorry for the delay, and promised that item would be sent ASAP
A couple of weeks, nothing.
then last week, i received a mail just like the one received by @TheGoose whti a Track & Trace number bla bla bla
5 days later, the small package arrived in perfect condition to my door.
So, im happy to have the item here with me. Im surprised about the delay, but hey, i live in Argentina, and im used to wait a looong time in order to receive packages from you guys.
Another example: yesterday i received a genlock from Australia...it was sent on september to me by cheapest methd (ship) because it was quite heavy...so by the end, everything (at least 90%) of Amiga items i buy, come to my door...no big deal to me, as long as the item arrives, im satisfied...but i fully understand you that you live close/near and expect things to get delivered on time...
Just my 2 cents
Sebastian

in case anyone was wondering the THEVINTAGEAMIGAN used to be BOOGIEGAIL on ebay -please check the feedback , HIS not HER'S account got suspended for the same reason it did the first time . The Dumbomaster has nothing to do with this one
