I've noticed that some A2000 face plates are brown while others are more of a slate gray. Did Commodore change colors through the years? Was one color used earlier than the other or more uncommon?

The brown looking ones have yellowed. The faceplate should be gray (like the darker keys on the A2K keyboard). Look at the backside of a yellowed/brown one, and chances are it will still be factory gray.

Mine always seemed yellow, but then again I have had it for so long, 17 years; I can't recall it gray anymore. ;-)
