In the meantime, before re-securing another OS 3.9 CD, can someone please explain where you're supposed to input those 2 passwords (for BB1 & BB2 respectively)? When trying to unarc the .zip file with all the goodies, the machine just brings up requester after requester exclaiming I do not have the password. I bothered to hit the 'ok' button a million times, but was rewarded with empty directories! Well, I have the password... what now? lol
I've tried placing it in the comment section of the Icons GUI and also inside the ToolType section. Added the word 'pass=' and 'password=' to no avail...

I wonder if you've got the proper BB archives then because mine are lha and no passwords.

I'm talking about manually unzipping the AmigaOS-Update file. THAT file is password protected. I found the passwords for the Boing Bags elsewhere on this site, but it does not talk about what, where or how you're supposed to use them. I'm more familiar with lha and its switches. Maybe 3.9's unarc is NOT the answer to unlocking this particular .zip file?

Ah, I see.. just checked and it's passworded.
Have you tried with unzip instead?

Eureka! The 'Unzip' utility did indeedy ask me for a password - thank you! Have totally gotten away from using that particular program since it's so 'IBM' like ;-) LOL!
The individual files are all still kind of "protected" though. What I mean by this is when you pull up an icons info, the 'execute' box is NOT checked. I've had problems with this before with downloads. Manually checking each file is going to take forever.
Copied all the files over the Sys and as predicted (since I did not bother to check all of the files as 'executable', the system was a mess. Installed BB2 and discovered most, if not all, of the files were 'executable' and voila! Down to 2 recoverable errors upon bootup and another error involving the 'T' directory in RAM: or something like this. May have a stray file or two that needs to be checked as executable. Makedir I bet... LOL!

all boing bags (1&2) are lha. and no password protection. at least thats how they were released originally.

Yes and no. I checked and the file AmigaOS-Update inside is a zip file with password protection, something I gather the installer takes care of internally when you run it.

Yes, for sure the Installer has got to take care of all that good stuff. Even changes the properties of the individual files to make them usable to the system ala scripts, Rexx or WB I'd imagine. Manually going through the Workbench though (I do not know how to change file properties via the CLI), the system is coming along.
I can tell you this though... after installing both Boing Bags - they have NOT fixed my A2000/Blizzard 2060 woes. There is still some garbage on the screen during certain requesters and programs AND the Input icon in Prefs, when double clicked, crashes the system and re-boots. Not using the Picasso II card btw. Just good old Agnes and Denise.
Looks like I do have a console.device error though. Says the checksum is bad...

Odd, you have the latest p5 68060 libs? Btw, the amigaos rom update file has three or four different scsi.device's in it, the installer removes the unnecessary ones.

Yes, have all the latest libs, etc. Most all of my video problems were actually
narrowed to a conflict with the Picasso software. I have not yet re-installed 2.4 (I think that's the latest?), just removed it completely. All of the garbled colours and graphics have ceased and none of OS 3.9's features in Prefs crashes now. It'll be a little while before I throw a VGA monitor back next to the system. Just happy the 2060 seems stable finally and will tackle the video card some other day.
The 2060scsi.device works as advertised too, so not using the usual scsi.device here.

Use DOpus to set the execute bits in a batch.

I'm guessing UnZIP wasn't used properly. There shouldn't be any problems with attributes.

The password for BB1 is 93ABDF11
I think the password for BB2 is 3FB6986B-B0AD6339-4FF3254B
I made an installation CD from my 3.9 CDROM with the updates so I can reinstall my systems with Boing Bags installed from the CD.
Makes it a lot easier.

Dopus... you know... I've never actually used that program (even though I've owned it for years)! Have always done things the Amiga Workbench or CLI way. I'll have to check it out more closely now that I know the protection bits or attributes can be modified.

Great idea about making a disc with the Boing Bags and OS3.9. :idea: I've never had a recordable CD on any of my systems, but would like to change that someday with the addition of a Deneb and external CD or DVD writer. Figures the external drive I own now is Firewire only!!! lol In the meantime, I could always copy things over to another small partition on my HD.
Soooo.... I managed to extract the Boing Bags and change the attributes manually last night. System totally flies now. So much snappier than I have ever been used to. Seems most all my A2000 woes have been cured for the time being. One of the things I LOVE about the Amiga is that it is such a compelling enough computer and allows you to learn something new still, even after all these years. No way I would ever devote this much time, money and frustration to hammering things out on an Atari, WinTel or Mac system. Only Amiga makes it gratifying :-)
