Is an IDE Fix 97 adapter worth using without the Express kit add-on? What real advantages does just the IDE 97 adapter provide versus the built in IDE interface on an A1200? Thanks.

You can use up to four devices for a start :-)

Connections are properly terminated and buffered.
Differently from the original A1200 crappy IDE.

Are you ABOLUTELY sure about that statement?? I remember reading something years ago which said the A1200 IDE is not nearly as bad as all the press it gets.

If you've only got one device and you haven't got a long cable then it won't give you much.

Thats what I though... I have a CF adapter with no cable and a direct connect female interface... I know that IDE Fix 97 is buffered and terminated but what does that really buy me?

Not much! I wouldn't bother in that case, unless you also get the "Express" adapter.
