Title: Deneb alternatives..
Post by: Munchkin on January 31, 2009, 05:59:37 PM
Just read up on Deneb and it would be a fun new part for my old 4000D.

But, since I saw that it has a clockport, something the 4000's really hasn't been blessed with before, I'm wondering what might be a good thing to get and add to that as well.

Thinking about a Delfina but I'd love suggestions because I have no real idea what other things can be added to a clockport.

I was thinking about getting a MP3@64 as I already have a SoundBlaster in my A4000.

Considering that for soundcards, you'd go much cheaper for USB ones and the same for serial adapters, it probably only leaves the MP3@64 or the MelodyPro for its MP3 decoding capabilities. I guess it's more for legacy than for getting new clockport hardware.

Will just about any USB soundcard work then?

What usb connected hardware will work out of the box?

I really don't need any special mp3 decoder.

Haven't had many negative reports (in fact, I can't remember anything permanent that couldn't be sorted out) about USB Soundcards.

About the supported devices: http://www.platon42.de/poseidon.html has a short list of classes and external tools. The manual gives more detail on those.
