Hi,
I want to purchase an 8gb Compact Flash to use with an Amiga 1200 (workbench 3.1). It will be formatted as Fat32.
Will Workbench 3.1 see the partition correctly as its bigger than 4gb, or this will carry the usual problems?
Thanks!

It will still be limited by the device and filesystem used to access it. If they're the standard scsi.device and FastFileSystem from 3.1, you'll have exactly the same problems if you use more than 4GB...
-
I dont know about scsi.device, but it will be formatted in FAT32 and accessed by FAT95 software.

As already discussed in the other thread: Workbench has no issues of accessing filesystem larger than 4GB.
The only problem Workbench 3.1 has is the displaying of the total size and free storage.
The exec level device driver issues are another topic. You can verify your config by using check4gb (http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/check4gb).

So, I can just get the 8gb CF card and create 2 x 4gb partitions....
-
Or one 8GB partition, if the filesystem allows it.

Fat95 allows 8gb no problem. But I would like that Workbench displays the CORRECT amount of free space available.
What do do? :-o

[plug=Shameless]
Get the Scalos (http://scalos.noname.fr/) Workbench replacement...
The 1.x versions are freeware, so there's no reason not to give it at least a try [/plug]
