What really good games can I run on my A2000 with GVP 040 and Picasso II with Flicker Fixer? I only have the one meg Agnus and four meg fast right now, but I have a two meg Agnus and 12 more meg fast on the way.
Can I run Quake?
I purchased the registration for WHDLoad last Firday, but I haven't received my registration yet :boohoo:

@KatManDEW,
You should be able to run most games that are not AGA with WHDLoad as it can reconfigure the setup. The main thing is to get the "Fat Lady" in there to enable the megachip.

Quake perhaps 4-5 fps? Even 060 does just 10-12 fps.

Doom I & II, Genetic Species and Decent will all go quite well.
-
ISTR playing through Breathless on an 040. I really like that game!

No they wont! I'm pretty sure you need more than an 040+gfx card to play GS at a fun rate?
There is no point in playing Doom I, II, Descent or any other of the ports. Just play them on your PC (with openGL ports) and enjoy them 10x better.
Obviously you've got access to the entire Amiga catalogue from your hard drive via WHDLOAD (http://www.whdload.de)
Probably a good suggestion would be to use AMR (http://amr.abime.net) to find a "100 top games" list fairly late on in the Amiga's life and try out the top 10.
Some games, such as Ambermoon, will enable you to switch on features which a normal A500 cannot handle.

I couldn't even get Genetic Species to run at a decent framerate with an 060 and a graphics card. Doom I worked on ok an 040 with AGA, but needed the window to be very small. It only really worked properly with an 060.

Genetic Species ran quite well on my 030@50 A1200. Maybe hte problem lies with its gfx card support. Does it use rtgmaster?
Also, Doom I and II ran well on the same system, using DoomAttack.

i played netowrk quake on an 040/40Mhz A4k with cv64/3d, and hydra card fairly competativly. i did have prior knowledge of the maps though.
shamefull thing is my phone (a free nokia 6120c) probably gets better frame rates at quake than any amiga i've owned.
the phone keypad control method leaves alot to be desired tho
however, with that spec A2000, you should be able to run most WHDLoad games easily :-)

Have to agree with Varthall - same set-up GS runs really well.
Rude!

Thanks for the feedback!
Any really good freebies? I hate to spend $50 on an ancient old version of a game, just so I can (try to) run it on my old Amiga....
I got my WHDLoad key today. But still no Fat Lady :boohoo:

I think it does. Not sure whether I ever tried it on AGA. But I certainly wasn't impressed with its performance on either my Voodoo or my CV64.

I can't find Dino Eggs on Aminet, Lemon Amiga, or WHDLoad. Know where I can find it?
-
Agony is a good game, and runs on most systems.
-
Was Dino Eggs even available for the Amiga? I remember playing it on my Commodore 64 a long time ago.
-
Wiki:
Dino Eggs is a 1983 computer platform game by MicroFun. It was released for the Apple II and Commodore 64.
-
Dino Eggs was the inspiration for the Amiga game "A Prehistoric Tale" but I wouldn't say either were GREAT games.
If you like RPG games why not try Ambermoon.
