"Stop" is a CLI-based utility that lists all the processes.  Limited operation, allows window and screen removal by letting the user click on the dead window within 10 seconds.  BUT, may not prevent system freezing or a major guru, and there are no preventive check-routines.  Like if you try to close Workbench with apps still running, it will perform and cause the system to lock up or guru.  Although I tried in 3.9, it isn't 100% compatible.  Also if there are too many tasks to list, it crashes itself.

Well, can the CLI/shell commands STATUS and BREAK help you?  Scout is helpful but it's also MUI-based app.  That's what I use the most.  Sorry.

ARTM (http://www.aminet.net/util/moni/ARTM2_04.lha) and Xoper (http://www.aminet.net/util/moni/Xoper28.lha) are apps that should run even if OS is in quite shaky state.

These apps a bit old now, and their GUIs aren't exactly state of the art. But the functionality counts here.

I couldn't find 'Stop', I'll give ARTM and Xoper a try, thanks.
