Hi All,
I'm wishing to archive all of my old C64 floppies so I need to hook my old 1541 drive to my Amiga.
I found instructions for 2 different adapter cables, Easy1541 & Frodo IEC. I see that one just connects pins from serial plug to parallel while the other makes use of a IC, the first seems easier to make but ??????
Any suggestions or experience with either is appreciated!
Thanks,
Tim

I would recommend you use a old pc + cable (xa1514 or xm1541 etc). I use a laptop with legacy ports. the easy1541 cable killed two of my drives before i switched to using a pc. the easy1541 cable+software is also very very slow.
these days I use an sdcard with my 1541ultimate to transfer files.

Thanks for the reply....
So it is the Amiga that kills the 1541 when using the Easy1541/Frodo IEC cable? I'm confused..
So does the 1541 'survive' better when using a modified cable hooked to a PC?
Thanks,
Tim

An Easy1541-cable is very easy to build and worked fine for me (havn't used it in ages though). But as Sandman says it's very slow and it takes almost all cpu power of the Amiga when transfering.
