Title: I fried my best c64
Post by: mike- on January 15, 2009, 04:42:23 PM
Hey,

I got the mssiah today, broke out my best c64, plugged in a round 8pin video cable, hooked it up to the same composite signal as the 1200's been using so far, bring up "tvtime" ( linux tv software ) flip it to composhite, nada... walk over to the c64 and notice the unmistakable smell of fried electronics... At first it seemed like the 6569 was the culprit, but now i've tracked the smell down to the rf-modulator... :boohoo:

So question is, is it the cable or old components?

Most likely old components.  I bought a reconditioned C64 a few years ago from 4 Jays Video in Antioch, CA.  You can visit them here. (http://4jays.net/store//page128.html)

If they have one, you can get a 64C with original packaging for about $45.
