After a long time of a4k ide troubble I cannot get my amiga to see the cf card on my machine. It's been working before but not anymore.
The only thing that works on the ide port is "no ide" module I have.
I've tried two cf adapters, the first one burned out, both adapter and card.
The second adapter signals that it has power and card (leds), but no activity. And the amiga boots fast, but without seeing anything on the ide port.
I'll try an old fashioned ide drive later, but my hopes are low :(

Very interesting.
This isn't the first time that I've seen a report of problems with compact flash cards (and in particular) amiga 4000's ide ports.
It may be worth some investigation as to how many users have had similar problems - the compact flash solution may be a problematic one for the a4000.....
Here's hoping that it's just isolated incidents but from previous posts I suspect not.

how did you power the adapters?

The adapters were powered with the same kind as the floppy is.

This was the first time I tried it, and when I tried it with power, both card and adapter burned out. Bad burn on the card, and burnt traces on the adapter.

Now, it used to work unpowered. But now it doesn't work either way. Not with power, nor without.
I hink I will have to dig up my other cf card, the one which used to be in it. I've tried now with 4gb scadisk extreemeIII, the one witch worked was a kingston.

Hum - not if you got a Deneb USB2.0 Highspeed card in a Zorro slot or a SpiderII USB2.0 "Highspeed" card in a PCI slot on the Mediator.
I'm going to exchange my SpiderII USB2.0 "Highspeed" card / Poseidon2.2/Triton2.0 registered version with the Deneb USB2.0 Highspeed card.
As soon this is done, my SpiderII USB2.0 "Highspeed" card / Poseidon2.2/Triton2.0 registered version will be on sale...

If you determine that the IDE port is still working, I would say to try a quality adapter (something from Mesa (http://www.mesanet.com/diskcardinfo.html) or Addonics), it isn't worth risking your miggy with the HK stuff IMHO. The SanDisk cards should work just fine btw, though I have better luck setting them up first in WinUAE. Good luck getting it resolved!

it seems that you should always test the adapter first on PC, just use one of those cheap 3,5" USB HDD racks if you can find nonSATA one. I used it to format pfs3 partition with winUAE on sandisk and it worked like a charm.
