I like the appearance of Newicons more than the default OS 3.9 icons so I've decided to install Newicons 4.6 over my existing icons (I'm using standard workbench OS 3.9 icons).
I've ran the Newicons 4.6 installer script twice but most of my drawers (and my partitions) don't show the "Newicon appearance" that I selected during the installation process.
I've followed all the installation steps mentioned in newicons guide file including startup-sequence editing.
How can I fix this?

Icon.library of os3.9 already has support for newicons, so newicon.library is not needed anymore.
First make sure that in workbench prefs 'no newicons' is unticked.
Next comment out the c:newicons command in user-startup, reboot and see if your newicons show up this time.
Edit: Don't install the deficons program that comes with newicons. OS3.9 contains a newer version of deficons.

To simplify further: don't install NewIcons at all.
You can use the icons themselves (the .info files) out-of-the-box with OS3.5 and above.

Thanks MozzerFan,
I've followed all your suggestions but I still don't see the NewIcons appearance unless I use Scalos as Workbench replacement.
Anyway I'm giving a try to Scalos, so everything is fine right now.
Thank you very much.
