Title: A1200 Use Dilemma
Post by: scafe on September 05, 2003, 01:55:41 PM
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can use my a1200 for?
At present i use my P2 PC which runs linux to do most of my A-level work on, but i was wondering if anything what i could do on my A1200 in terms of school work ie graphics design, photo manipulation ect...
I study Graphics Design, ITC, and Photography.

There are loads of uses man...

Photo editing, music software, pretty much anything a PC can do providing you have the correct software and hardware in your baby! If its a standard a1200, well maybe play some games.

well, even if it's a vanilla A1200 you can do some basic stuff with it, provided you have a hard drive.

Otherwise either put one or really use it for games!

Amiga stuff is generally expensive. Try ebay.

The best Photo editing software is ImageFX or Photogenics. To get the best you need a graphics card.

For cheap stuff, try Personal Paint which btw is FREE
on Aminet in biz/cloan/PPaint.lha

Currently my emulated A1200 (the physical A1200 is in the cupboard behind me... physical space problems) is serving me quite nicely, because Mozilla doesn't yet have an option to just delete a specific mail off the server (explanation: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217880 (http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=217880)), I'm using YAM to do that part for me :-)  Beats webmail or telnet:110 :-)

@scafe

You could try 3D rendering. After all, the ubiquitous LightWave3D started out on the Amiga.

Now, there are umpteen 3D packages for the Amiga which enable anyone with an artistic bent to create veritable masterpieces.

I'm into LightWave myself and I use a relatively modest A1200 to create all my website stuff, which includes some 3D animations.

Check out my site at:

and see what you could achieve with your A1200.

Cheers,

JaX
