You can buy an Amiga 1200 for ONLY 500 Euros here (http://cgi.ebay.es/Unique-opportunity-brand-new-Amiga-1200-unused-boxed_W0QQitemZ270322171413QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_146?hash=item270322171413&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A895%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1307)

Hello All,
I know Amiga prices have gone crazy in the past few years, but this crazy. Hate to think how much my Amiga collecton is worth.
Thanks in advance,

I recently saw on Ebay an A1200 which was described as being rare.
-
it does have a snazzy looking box

I don't think is a robbery because it's a new one Amiga never used as stated. I have one of my A1200 closed for 10 years (it was one of the last A1200 selled in my country from a official brazilian reseller)and I open it and used for only 2 or 3 hours to test it. And I am surprised that the drive was with problems. So I changed the drive for a new one. Next I leave it for a hardware Amiga master here in BRazil that changed all the caps because even with the AMiga closed the caps was with probs. The HD was with probs too so changed for a new one. Next I closed it again in the box. The lesson: even closed there are no garanty that it will act as a new one.

The seller has stated that this cannot be obtained elsewhere. I don't think he knows about our collection of New Old Stock A1200 (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=668) ;-)

I don't think the bidders know either

It's like the stock market, and just like the stock market, when people realise what they done it will deflate like a balloon when you stick a pin in it...
The thing is to hold on to your Amiga gear just to the point where it reaches maximum and sell it before the crash...
-
robbery :-? if some fool wants to buy it then all the power to him...remember "a fool and his money make a great party"
-
If the A1200 was never used in years...
it will not work
caps not used in years will not works anymore....
If no electricity is circulating by long time on caps...liquid evaporate & they lost the full capacitance
more info about caps issues at: www.badcaps.com
so maybe a recap of the entire motherboard is needed
surely the floppydrive will fail also
surely the HD will fail also but in this ebay item no HD is provided

he does state that he'll try to see if it works on request

All it takes is one moron to pay a ridiculous price like that to make it "worth" that much. The prices for most old Amiga/Commodore stuff has more to do with ebay psychology than any actual rarity.
-
what you guys need to do is sell some miggies with a buy it now price of 10 euros.
that would help bring prices down right? just make sure you pmail me the auction link :-D

Twice I've made the mistake of holding on to stocks too long and watch them crash down. I want to hod on to my Amigas just a little longer. I wish I could see when the crash will occur...
