Title: What's Better GFX Card Cybervision PPC or Voodoo?

Hello All,

I would like to hear your opinion on this, in one A4000T I have a Elbox PCI mediator board running Voodoo GFX Card. In my other A4000T I have a Cyberstorm PPC with Cybervision PPC GFX card. Few people tell me Cybervision PPC card is faster and better than PCI Voodoo card but logic tells me the Voodoo card must be much faster. I give up!

I would like to hear your view on this subject. :crazy:

I had a CV-PPC and a Voodoo (GREX) and the Voodoo is a lot better IMHO. Better 3D quality and more memory too. IOf it's faster in 2D I don't really know.

Anyway I've gone back to my PIV because I think P96 is better and the integrated SD/FF is so nice.

I had both. From my experience the Voodoo is faster in larger resolutions (800x600 and up) as it has more videoram. But the CybervisionPPC was more compatible IMHO as it had Cybergrapx.

chip for chip, the voodoo3 is faster than the permedia2, but the system has more hoops to jump through to get to it.

in a nutshell:-
for the mediator
CPU-Zorro3-Mediator-PCI-GFXchip.

for the b/cvisionPPC
CPU-PCI-GFXchip.

when it comes to amiga comparisons, it seems that from what people are saying, it seems to be much of a muchness as to what is faster in both 2D and 3D operations. one might be better at one thing, the other might be better at somethingelse. plus the voodoo has the other added advantage of double the ram for screens and textures.

personal preference, i'd favour the b/cvision as i feel it has a more developed 2D and 3D driver set, and not so "kludged" together... but thats just me.

as you have both, (not that i'm jealous AT ALL) how about downloading P96speed and see what you get? :-D

Voodoo3 ok, but on Prometheus ? GREX 4000 ? Mediator ?  :lol:

I would imagine that several CSPPC demos require a CVision?

I have tried both CV PPC and Voodoo3+Mediator. (I own both).

Mediator is faster, CV PPC is a bit slower but on OS3 it has the advantage of promoting 31KHz screens, at least for A4000 users.  Some may argur CyberGraphX is better, some may not.

Voodoo 3 on OS4 is by far and away a hands-down winner.  The 16MB graphics ram really, really, really makes a huge difference, and it can show the early startup too, once the OS4 kernel is loaded.  It's faster, too, on OS4.  Works great with Mediator.
