Title: New online retro-computing magazine seeks article authors
Post by: gazsp on December 13, 2008, 11:21:45 PM
Hi all,

I'm starting up an online magazine which will focus on classic and retro computing, specifically hardware and programming. The platforms I initially want to cover are the 68k Amigas, C64, Atari 2600 and Sinclair Spectrum.

I'm looking for people who would like to contribute articles to the site. As I'm just starting out, I won't be able to offer any financial remittance for any articles submitted, but I'll hopefully be able to do so in the future.

If anybody would be interested in writing an article or tutorial series, could you please PM me with examples of previous work / blogs etc? Articles I'd be most interested in are programming tutorials (68k assembly, banging the hardware etc), new hardware reviews (the Indivision AGA scan doubler, for example), new software reviews etc.

Cheers,
Gaz.

Sounds interesting.  What is the name of your e-zine?  Is it going to be free or subscription-based?  Just my two-cent suggestion (it may be worth less) . . . Perhaps do not limit your retro computing to those options only, unless you are inundated with articles.  There are lots of interesting retro machines out there, and some of them are not as useless as an Atari 2600! (preemptive 'sorry' to all Atari fans)

The site is not up yet, but will be called RetroX.

I'll be starting out with those platforms initially as they're the ones I have most experience with. I eventually hope to expand the site to include as many platforms as possible.

Cheers,
Gaz.

cool idea.

I really like the programming side, retro computers like MSX had listings of complete games in basic - which made programming fun.

we need this type of mag for Amigas too and dont mind paying for it.

Most mags fail due to spending too much time on the artwork and lack of articles/news/content.

A simple article upload form could make it easy to submit such things ?

Thanks for all your comments so far.

The online version of the magazine will be free, maybe with paid for PDF / print versions at a later stage.

The site will be online in January, and I'll post another message here to let you know when it's up and running.

Cheers,
Gaz.

Well I'll be interested in reading it and I'll contribute if I can.

I have several Amigas set up, along with a Minimig v1.1, C-64, C-128 and Commodore-One (with Minimig expander card).
