And miss Depeche Mode, I like blur... but they are princeses to DM's kings ;-)

Ahhh ok. I wouldn't miss the opportunity to relive my childhood for anything - not even another Radiohead gig ;-)

Well both Blur and Depeche Mode are my 2 childhood bands... But DM are better live and I want to go to Germany... So they get the win ;-)

Oh if I had known you liked Blur then I would have let you know about the gig last night! If you manage to get a ticket for the 3rd then I'll see you there! :-)
I always wanted to go and see Blur when I was growing up but for some reason I never did. When they changed the lineup I lost the urge, so the reunion gig is really fulfilling a childhood dream :-) Really hope they play Jubilee :-D

If I'm back from Germany, I WILL see you there :-D

Cool! Let me know!

I got one
I have two. :pint:

Snap! (Well, except I wasn't a child :-D)

Congrats on getting ticket(s) =).
I wish I could go and see a proper Pink Floyd concert :-(.

Blur produced some of my favourite songs, I really enjoyed them. They got me through some difficult times between 1997 and 1999 on night shift in JHB. There is a lot of nostalgia associated with their music for me, because at the time I was going out with what turned out to be the best girlfriend I ever had. We only split because she wanted kids and wouldn't leave SA at all.
But live gigs and concerts don't interest me at all. I'm the sort of person who listens to this music in private, quietly. That's how I enjoy it the most: kind of like a meal, almost in a selfish manner.
Anyway I am glad for all of you who can go to that event and I raise my coffee mug in appreciation of Blur and their great music!

I was about 12 when I got in to Blur, which would have been in '95. I got my dad to pick up a copy of The Great Escape (on cassette!) on his way home from work, and I'll never forget what he said when he got home: "I made the mistake of listening to the first song...". I had never heard the album before, and when I listened to the first track (Stereotypes) I thought it was so risqué that I was horrified to think my dad had heard it
I gradually went back in time through Blur's collection with Parklife, Modern Life Is Rubbish and Leisure. I loved each of them in their own special way at various points during my teenage years. I never cared for the albums they released after The Great Escape, but I suppose I'll have to get familiar with them now ;-)

I love stories about how music has been a part of people's lives. I can totally relate to the nostalgia associated with Blur. Listening to them now immediately takes me back to my childhood, which brings back lots of happy memories but some painful ones too.

I do know what you mean. I actually prefer listening to music on my own in peace and quiet. I haven't been to many live shows - Aerosmith when I was 16, the Kaiser Chiefs a couple of years ago, Radiohead earlier this year, and now Blur next year. I have enjoyed all of the gigs I went to, but in all cases it would have been better without all the people  I do like hearing music performed live as there is something really exciting about seeing people you really admire performing right in front of you!

Likewise. I've seen Roger Waters several times, David Gilmour once and Pink Floyd minus Roger Waters a few times too.
Out of a group of around 15 pals I was only one who didn't get to the Live8 reunion gig.
With the recent death of Richard Wright that experience is sadly no longer possible.
Of course Syd Barret is gone as well.

I believe so.

I love live music and try to make sure I see at least one concert per month. Recently I've been going to gigs every other week.
Saw Ben Kweller last Friday and he was top notch, as per.

Who was he who said real art only knows lonely admirers. (or something along that line)
