Title: PMCIA Compact Flash Adapter Format!

Hello,

I was always using a Compact Flash on my Amiga 12000 with PCMCIA CF Adapter and all went fine.
But today I was trying to receover other files stored on onther CF of mine I was using in the past.
Strange thing is my Amiga do not recognize them.
Then I try to format them with Windows XP into FAT and FAT32 but no luck!

Then I tried to use the command diskmgmt.msc into the Exec Menu of Windws XP trying FAT and FAT 32 but I cannot let the CF recognized!

So what is needed for these CF.

What is *THE RULE* ?

a Format FAT ( that sould be 16 ) or FAT32 ?

How can I do the format if WIN XP failed?

Formatting of CF cards was discussed on this thread http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=39468 earlier today.

Have you used this card on a PCMIA adaptor before or an IDE/CF adaptor?

Not all cards will work on both systems.

Without the right software Amiga can only read CF cards formatted in FFS (an Amiga format).

If you install Fat95 (http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/fat95) you can read FAT16 and FAT32 formatted CF cards on the Amiga.

If you're having problems I would imagine you've either deleted or corrupted your FAT95 installation.

I used:

format H:/FS:FAT /Q

and everything was fine with SanDisk 512MB and Kentron 512MB I only have problems letting recognize a Lexar CD 64 MB.

Any Hint?

?? It is not possible to determine from your description.

Is the Lexar card is working fine in windows but not on Amiga?

The card is working fine on Amiga but not windows?

The card is just not working at all?? (broken card?)

How do you connect your CF card to the PC?

do you know if it has an msdos style MBR on it or not set to use partitions or 'whole' disk etc?

Well,

I have formatted all the CF card I have with the PC using that command.

But every card works on my Amiga except the Lexar of 64MB.

Can you tell me why?

I appear to be having the same trouble.

Bought a PCMCIA CF card reader and CF card from AmigaKit. Installed everything and it all worked fine.

One week on went to use the card and it first appeared in Workbench as a NONDOS CF0: and now doesn't appear in Workbench at all.

The card appears fine in a USB reader with Windows XP and Mac OS X. I've tried formatting it with FAT and FAT32 but fails to appear in Workbench.

Do I have a faulty card?
