I expect to move houses rather soon so I've to decide what can be taken along and what has to go. I might have a go at my A2000 which is collecting dust on the attic for some time now. From my memory (which is badly modified by Kasteel bier (castle beer) (http://www.vanhonsebrouck.be/)) the A2000 comes with:
- Some sort of 68020 accelerator with some Fastram.
It is Commodore's A2620 with 2MB FAST RAM, 6881 FPU and 6851 MMU
- Some kind of SCSI controller, probably GVP something.
It is a GVP Series II with v3.07 ROM
- A Commodore 8088 PC emulator
The previous owner has ditched the big floppy and replaced it with an Apple SCSI CD-Drive, so don't know if it works
- An Amiga 2000 internal Genlock
Commodore's A2300, that is
- A VLab card (or something similar)
Macrosystem VLab 1.3, see next post
- SCSI harddisk sized about 4 GB
4 GB Quantum Fireball ST with Apple badging
- External SCSI ZIP drive
- Internal SCSI CD drive
Apple job, speed unknown
- Some kick-start switch
Enables booting into AMIX (won't work now as it AMIX is not installed
- Single DD internal diskdrive
- Kickstart 2.0
- ECS PAL Agnus
- Normal Denise
- A2058 memory-board with 4MB fast RAM
- 1 MB Chip memory
The battery has been removed to prevent damage.
I'll be willing to give it a serious clean and a nice base installation but I want to test the water as to what will it bring. So, what should this be fetching? We're talking about a used system with some mileage so don't expect a beautiful as new A2000.
It's a revision 6 Amiga 2000.

Okay... I'm willing to sell the machine. But before selling it, I need to know if the VLab is in working condition. So, can somebody enlighten me on how to install the thing and check it's function? Any help appreciated.
sorted: It wasn't properly seated into the ZORRO slot. It works :-).

I thought I had read somewhere recently that the Vlab 1.3 requires (or highly recommended?) a 68030??

Warp Engine 040/40 with a fast scsi drive is ideal.

Because of circumstances for sale:
Amiga 2000 rev. 6 with 1 MB CHIP RAM, ECS PAL DENISE and normal Agnus. Through the Mega Kick 1.2 Kickstart 2 is installed. This kickstart switch has space for a Kickstart 1.3 ROM.
The 2000 is equipped with 2 SCSI hard disks, 1 Western Digital (1GB) and one Quantum Fireball (2GB). Together with an Apple SCSI CD-ROM drive, these are connected to a GVP Series II SCSI controller. This controller has a revision 3.07 ROM.
Naturally, the A2000 has 1 DD floppy drive (works, front is loose), an Amiga 2000 keyboard and a 3-button high-resolution Wizzard mouse.
The battery is removed from the motherboard. This battery has not leaked, the motherboard is not damaged and it is therefore possible to easily solder a new battery.
It is a big-box Amiga, so there are extensions.
In order to accelerate work the A2000 is equipped with a 14MHz 68020 processor including 6881 FPU and 6851 MMU. Everything is mounted on an Amiga 2620 processor board with 2 MB FAST RAM. Through the early-startup, it is possible to choose whether you want 68000 or 68020 performance.
There is also a memory card A2058 mounted. This revision 3 card can have up to 8MB of memory, this one has however only 4 mounted. This brings the total to 6 MB RAM FAST.
Analog video editing is also a possibility. This A2000 has Commodore's A2300 PAL Genlock. Besides these, there is also a VLab 1.3 of Macro Systems mounted.
It is still possible to simulate a very old PC. This is thru the A2088 bridge a board of the Commodore Amiga. This piece of hardware from 1986 is equipped with a ROM version 3.5 in 7100 from 1989.
The Amiga is delivered as it stands, including a Workbench 2.1 installation and the necessary software to use the VLab and Genlock. The Janus software for the bridge is on board.
Tested and working there is also an external drive and the ZIP 100 for the SCSI port. I also have an Agfa Studio Star scanner with slide-on module. This is a SCSI scanner and would be able to work with the Amiga. I certainly know that not because I have never been tested.
I have no monitor. The Amiga can be seen working but it will then go through the composite and a portable DVD player.
In short, a nice machine to play with during the Christmas days.
Make a good bid and who knows you can come and collect it.
At the request can I obtain additional information and photos supplied.
I will consider breaking the sale up in pieces.

If there is serious interest, I could do a test-run with some sort of Video source connected. I must have an old Canon Video camera laying around somewhere.

Well, I have some interest in your vlab 1.3 digitizer only. Do you have the instructions for it (in English)? Does it work on 1.3 systems, or does it require 2.0 to work properly?

On the big book of Amiga Hardware it says that it needs at least kick 2. Looking at the software's interface I can imagine this is true as the GUI seems to heavily rely on the bits and pieces introduced with kick 2.
When I got the VLab (an impulse buy :-() it came very lonely: no disks, no manual. But I did find a .dms with the software and it works. That is, the software starts, recognizes the VLab and it recognized that no video-input was available (which was correct at that time).

Hmmm... I had better hold off, since I have
only a 1.3/020 system right now. I think the
020 may be a problem too? But if not, then it's
worth me upgrading to 2.0 roms, I think.

If you plan to capture only single images it should not be a problem. If you plan to capture animations forget it. For animations you can forget the card itself in general even with an 68060 if you want to digitize anything bigger then a thumbnail in grayscale. Limitation here again is the slow ZII bus.
For videocaptureing grab a VLab-Motion or similar card.
Again, if you are happy with single images you'll be fine as the requirements are: Kick 2.x, 1 MB Chip, 2 MB Fast (processorwise even a plain 68000 will do though it is absolutely not recommendet)

OK, wait, this is not the 'vlab motion 1.3' board, but rather a lower model vlab 1.3 that you have?

It's the VLab 1.3 Y/C version. If I find the time today, I will hook some sort of video source and see what can be done on this set-up. Results I will put on the net for evaluation.
