Title: Scalos, DirOpus 5.x or MCP?
Post by: mingle on December 05, 2008, 04:03:25 AM
Hi,

I'm currently tinkering with my new A1200 and have mucked around with MCP and a few other pass to try and make WB a bit more user-friendly...

Then I thought about some other options, namely Directory Ops 5.x and Scalos...

I've had a quick look at DirOpus, but haven't used Scalos...

Can anyone who uses either (or both!) tell me the pros and cons of each, compared to Workbench + MCP?

Cheers,

Mike.

Have you tried classic amiga?  there is a lean A1200 version that install scalos and dopus 4 with a lot of other already configured enhancements.  saves you a lot of hassle getting things to work.  i installed the lite version on my A1200, very quick to boot, uses little ram, and very functional, but there are other versions there you can try: http://classicwb.abime.net/

@stefcep2,

Thanks for that - I'm having a look now...

The download links appear to be broken (at the moment?) :-(

I have tried AmigaSYS, but found that it was a bit incomplete (a few of the prefs programs were missing) and other mildly irritating stuff..

Cheers,

Mike.
