Title: PCMCIA type III?
Post by: MaDDuck on December 02, 2008, 12:09:16 AM
Hey!!
I know a type III card would,'d fit in a A1200/A600, but will the port handle it after some plastic surgery?
I see a TON of those type III drives out there. Could we boot of off it?

Nope.  Type III cards aren't compatible with the (16-bit-only) PCMCIA slot on the 600 and 1200.

ALthough it should be noted that there are a few "Type 1" PCMCIA USB cards out there.  All you need is a driver.

Type I, II or III has nothing to do if its 16bit or 32bit. Its just the physical height of the card (Typ I 3,3 mm, Typ II 5,0 mm, Typ III 10,5 mm). So if its a 16bit Type III and you make it fit into the slot somehow it might work with the right driver.
