Where can I get a cheap one that can be shipped to New Zealand?
I had problems finding one in New Zealand that was keyed. The adapter I found didnt have the missing pin in the middle, so it wouldnt plug into my A1200's standard 2.5" ide cable. I didnt want to damage anything by removing the pin myself.
I've got a cheap 2gb CF memory card. I just need the adapter now. :) I'd rather just go for a cheap item, I dont care about performance.
I've seen a dual memory card adapter.. that would be kinda neat having the option for two drives/cards!
Also: I've heard someone mention that they need a hardware gayle fix to avoid spontaneous resets?? How bad is this problem? When does it occur?
Thats all for now. :)

You'll be fine if you remove the keying pin, as it shouldn't even be there in the first place. Just make sure you remove the right pin.

I wasnt confident I could remove it properly, or even get the right pin... so I sent it back and got a refund.

These look nice:

Is $21 usd an alright price? I'll wait for your replies before I buy it (I'll try and wait anyway!).

Sent you a PM ;-) I believe that is a massive rip-off, especially considering the exchange rate of the NZD to the USD, which I imagine is even worse than the AUD :-(
Good luck ;-)

I was looking on ebay (UK) yesterday and found some ridiculously cheap ones:
This one is less than £2 including P&P (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CF-to-44-Pin-LAPTOP-IDE-Hard-Drive-Adapter-bootable-K03_W0QQitemZ290264452027QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item290264452027&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1300%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318) and as it is from China, I can imagine you can get similarly cheap ones that will ship to you too.

I have that one and it works fine with one CF but I could never get it to work with a dual hard drive cable as slave master set up.

Try never! :-D
The fault you mention relates to PCMCIA, not IDE, so don't worry about it :-)

They don't allow ANY other device to be recognized on the same bus...a total PITA, but it's unavoidable with a single cable setup.
I've tested maybe 5 different versions, all with the same problem you report.
Best just to grab a cheap buffered 4-way interface & be happy with a total of 3 IDE devices (or 2 fixed & 2 switchable if you get tricky ;-) ).
