Hi everybody. Is a basic Amiga 1200 with hard drive fast enough and have enough memory to run OS 3.9? Thanks.

No, not really. Add at least 4 MB RAM.

Ok, I will have to find some memory for it. Is the 68020 fast enough?

Depends on what would you like to do. More power is always better.

Hardly. It will work, but that's about it. 3.1 is better suited for a vanilla 1200.
I understand you are some kind of masochist?

@barney
A 68020 is hardly fast enough for... almost anything these days, not only for AOS 3.9. A memory expansion board with some 60ns Fast-RAM on it is a good investment, independently on if you decide to install AOS 3.9 or not, as it will increase system performance and it will allow you to run all those good speed-up patches you can find on Aminet.
I recommend a 68030 accelerator instead of just a memory board.

I tried 3.9 on a A2000 with 030@25 and in total 5mb.. shortly after that even with 9mb.
And then I decided to move to an 060 to avoid any more pain :-)

PS: 3.1 was fine with the 030 & 5mb though
