Title: DirOPUS 5 & PC Task 3.1 - where to get a new disks?

Hi,

After 7 years in the cupboard my DirOPUS 5.0 disk is now giving me read errors.

Same with Disk 2 of my PC Task v3.1 set...

Is there anywhere I can get a new disk/adf copy of these?

I'd love to get both of these apps up and running on my new A1200...

Dopus 5.5 was given free on Aminet CD 31. And probably it's easier to find PC_Task 4.3/4.4.

PC-Task 3.1 was on a CUCD wasn't it?

But use 4.4 - it's much better. I doubt Chris Hames would be all that worried about you using without a license (especially as you bought 3.1) - of course, some people may disagree with that, but as you can't buy it any more.... (the only time when piracy is in the least bit acceptable).

Hi

Maybe the drive. Also have you tried copying the disks and or giving a rescue utility a chance to rebuild. Just a thought. Sometimes its a stubborn drive....

Thanks for the info guys...

I managed to find a dms of disk 2 of PCTask 3.1 - I just wanted to install it for old time's sake!

I'm intrigued by v4.4 though - would be great it it supports better GFX modes...

I think the GFX modes are pretty the same - and  on a GFX card quite abundant. I rarely went over 640x480 because of speed reasons.

4.4 is much faster than 3.1, IIRC. It also supports Win95 but it's unstable and verry slow on an 060@50. It does also have better support for all sorts of things. I still use it occasionally for one thing or another.

Just download and install AmiKit from http://amikit.amiga.sk/  it comes with DirOpus 5.5
