Hi,
I'm thinking of getting an Indivision AGA for my A1200, but I'm not sure of which resolution LCD monitor to get.
I'd like to be able to run the best possible screen resolution to suit the native resolution of the monitor.
I'm thinking of either 1024x768 (so I can run the excellent HighGFX 1024x768 monitor driver) or a 1280x1024 screen, so I'd be able to use things like DBLPal and PAL Hires-Laced without having the LCD monitor have to struggle with the resolutions and end up with a blurry, crap-looking display.
Would a 1280x1024 screen be able to produce a decent-looking 640x512 Amiga display?
Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with the idea LCD screen to go with an Indivison?
Cheers,
Mike.

Why not simply buy and LCD TV instead? No need to buy an Indivision then?
-
Well, not too sure...
I've heard that some LCD tellys just won't work with the Amiga scan-rates.
Are you talking about using an Amiga RGB-SCART cable into the LCD telly?
If you have any more info or (even better!) some pics of such a setup in action that would be great...
Cheers,
Mike.

Indivision can have 60hz output, so every lcd will work (both frequencies ale doubled/highered).
Old scandoublers are 50hz only (they doubled horizontal scanrate ONLY) and thus it works only with some LCDs

It's a great solution!

Looks like a great solution.
How do interlaced modes (ie: PAL Hires Laced) look?
Trouble is locating one of these screens... They look to be a generic/OEM screen... Wonder if they're sold under other names?
Wonder if this would do the trick?
LCD Telly... (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/15-LCD-TV-DVD-COMBO-WITH-PC-INPUT_W0QQitemZ280287600552QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Televisions?hash=item280287600552&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A1|39%3A1|240%3A1318)

Sorry I don't know. I never tried them and no longer use this screen.

This particular one was, IIRC, manufactured specifically for ASDA. There are lots of them about though.

It looks like it would, since it has both VGA and SCART inputs. You should check the min/max refresh rates though.

No longer use it? Wanna send it to me? :-)
-
It would probably cost as much to send it as it would to buy one in Aus... but I can find out a price if you want.

Hi Moto,
Hey, why not? I'd be looking at around $AU250 for one here and that's for one that may not even work on my A1200!
Cheers,
Mike.
P.S. Why do you look so bored in your avatar/pic? :-)

Ok, I'll package it up and get a price for you as soon as I can. If you don't hear from me in a couple of days, PM me to remind me as TBH there's a risk I'll forget ;-)

I was reading a particularly boring chapter on (IIRC) psycho-linguistic accounts of disordered grammar. Interesting area, boring book...

@Mingle
You could arange to take your A1200 to a local store and test it with LCD TV's within your price range.
It may also be a good idea to get in contact with the Melbourne Amiga User Group (MAUG (http://go.to/maug)), they have tested various LCD TV's with Amiga's.

@moto,
That book of yours sound like a rivetting read... ZZZzzz...
:-)
Any luck on the shipping price for the LCD to Oz?
:-)
Cheers,
Mike.

Well, as I said it's an interesting topic. I'm interested in pretty much all aspects of language, particularly impaired language. But that particular book was very, very dull ;-)

Inevitably, I forgot ;-) I have just put it in its box and it's quite heavy. I weighed it and got a quote to send to Aus, and they want about £100, which is about $AU225!
Postage from the UK is so expensive these days...

@mingle
check this thread (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=38181) at EAB, it may have some more info, or atleast you can ask what every one else is using!!
-
@moto,
Urk! I think that wonga would be better spent on an Indivision! :-)
Thanks for checking it out for me...
@mihcael,
Thanks for the link - I'll check it out...
Cheers,
Mike.
