Title: A1200 network card problems - Dayna Communicard
Post by: mingle on November 17, 2008, 10:45:04 PM
Hi,

I have a Dayna Communicard E PCMCIA ethernet card which I'm trying to get working with my A1200. It's on the list of "possibly compatible" cards for the cnet device driver.

When I use the cnet device 'card info' util, it sees the card, but then freezes when accessing it. I remove the card (as the on-screen text recommends if it freezes) and it writes a card info.bin file, as expected.

When I try and use the MiamiaDX 'MiamiInit' program it says it cannot access "cnet.device unit 0" (which is what the card should be), so I'm stuck now...

Has anyone else had any luck with this card?

Cheers,

Mike.

... additional:

I've also tried inserting the card AFTER the A1200 boots, using the cnet16.device and every other thing I could think of...

Cheers,

Mike.

Much more than probable you need to make the hardware reset hack hinted in the cnet.device docs.

Hmm... I thought that was just to work around the issue of the PCMCIA bus in the A1200 not resetting cards after a reboot?

The docs also mention a couple of software PCMCIA reset workarounds. I haven't tried them yet, but since the system can see the card, I'm not sure that's the issue, but maybe worth a try?

I've also emailed the cnet.device developer(s), but not sure if it's still in active development!

Cheers,

Mike.
