Title: Does Computing Get Any Better Than This?
Post by: Darrin on November 16, 2008, 12:03:27 AM
OK, I treated myself to a new HiDef 46" plasma for Xmas, but the question of what to do with my old 42" plasma arose.  Despite the complains from my wife, I solved the problem and dragged it off to my computer room.  It now takes pride of place on my retro-wall as the ultimate gaming monitor for my A4000, Minimig and C64:

Pics are a bit big so I've linked to them.

Minimig booting:

Time for a game:

C64 overkill:

Anyone for a game of Elite?  :-D

The 030 I got off u is living in a nice indivision equipped A1200. I've have to settle for a dell 19" though.

I'm glad you're having fun with that GVP 030 card.  It certainly gives the A1200 a good kick up the butt.  :-)

I just replaced the 25MHz Commodore 040 card in my A4000 with a Warp Engine 40MHz 040.  I'm going to take the 25MHz card and stick it in the A3000 I'm planning on eBaying.  That should make it a bit more attractive.

Yep Gotta watch it, playing old games can become a time sink...freakin cool though. This is the setup that should have been released back in the day. The whole CF card sawp back and forth to a pc with UAE is stellar.

Will now continue on my black A1200 project.

LOL.  That MMC replay is worth double the price.  I'm waiting for that SVGA version because I'm using a composite cale at the moment.  :-)

This is similar to the display array I'm putting together:

Triple Head To Go w/3 Projectors (http://forums.frugalsworld.com/vbb/showpost.php?s=a10d40ab68ba349766c605c7c5f8fb4f&p=1325534&postcount=7)

I'm just amazed that your computer desk was big enough for a 42" Plasma screen and you didnt need to buy a new desk.

@Darrin

You have a very understanding wife  :-D
I was thinking about getting a new LCD 21" for my SAM and Minimig but i think that after purchasing a SAM and a Macbook this autumn, i now have to keep a low profile for a while  :-D

I think my saving grace is that I have the mother-in-law visiting and what my wife has spent clothes shopping in the last month would probably by 3 plasma TVs!  :-D

Yikes, double post. Haven't had that happen to me in like, well, forever.

Anyway, I just thought of more to say.... I just had a brain blast of an idea!!!!! It's in the nuclear range!

You've heard of this?
http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/patterson/30170

Ever see those little 15 to 40 drawer rectangular cases that you can put screws, nuts/bolts, knick knacks into to keep them sorted?

Well, now just imagine something like that as a holder device, and you could put in 3 by 2 of those projectors in there!!!! With a bit of overlap DOUBLE JUMBO SEAMLESS DISPLAY!!!!!!!!!!

Cinema's front row! Good to see pure decadence always works: other people go and buy new glasses if the letters on the monitor become too little, not that Darrin. Hope your eyes don't need the 46" for your C64 before next X-mas :-)
