I'm looking at a A2000 new in box with PIV, Widlfire, Quantum Hardcard EZ, Bigfoot etc right now. This thing is sweet, I'd hate to break it up.
Any pre-eBay offers?
-
You'll get alot more $$$ if you do break it up..
Its not really that hi-spec of a system the way it sits (aside from the Wildfire card).
What you have to remember here is that the PIV is still gonna be bottlenecked by the 16-bit Zorro II backplane its plugged into.
My guess is that the PIV and Wildfire sold separately would draw 90% or more of what the entire system will.
All those other parts would be attractive to A2000 owners at fair prices as well, and youll probably get twice as much by the time its all sold.
I would at least yank the PIV and sell it separately, even if you sell the A2000 as a unit. Its easy enough to boot the thing up and change the screenmode preferences before you yank the card.. and the P96 libraries shouldnt keep the machine from booting in OCS/ECS mode..
You should also elaborate (for those who dont know) on that what exactly that wildfire is..
This is the baddest accelerator ever made for the A2000. Its an 060 @ 50mhz with on-board fast/wide SCSI, SIMM sockets for up to 128megs of 32bit fastram, and on board ethernet. Theres also a 32-bit local bus connector for a proprietary DKB graphics card, but these are almost impossible to find (hence the Picasso IV)..

You are right, I'd get far more. I just hate to do it. There is even a MegAChip in this thing.
The Picasso IV is the best gfx card for an Amiga 2000, by far. Unless of course someone can actually find an Inferno gfx card for the Wildfire.
Wildfire:
processor
68060 @ 50 MHz
memory
four 72 pin SIMM sockets accept 128 MB RAM
supports 4, 8, 16, 32 MB SIMMs, 60-80 ns
64 bit interleaved RAM access
Fast SCSI 2 controller
10 MB/s max transfer speed
50 pin internal header
50 pin external high density connector
uses wildfirescsi.device
Ethernet
DEC Tulip 21040, the only Ethernet controller in Amigas that DMAs directly into fast 32 bit memory
up to 100 Mb/s transfer speed
10Base-T connector
internal slot for the optional 10Base-2 connector
has SANA II, but no MNI driver
notes
works only with Kickstart 3.x
flash ROM for firmware upgrades
two PCI bus slots (one for the Inferno graphics board)
-
Sux the Inferno is impossible to find, though DMA ethernet is definitely pretty nice.
I was actually quite surprised at the gfx card performance on my A2K ('060/CV3D), despite the Z2 bus. Demos which support rtg all run very well (but only with CGX drivers). Even Payback runs fine. Higher resolutions would no doubt choke a bit more than Z3.

In the process of splitting it up. I wil be updating the red's bad a** sale thread soon.

I don't see the point in buying deep pockets. Makes it harder to walk when you go stuff way down in there.

On the plus side, it makes it easy to play pocket pool.

Maybe too late, I've split up the system and have already put the WildFire, Hardcard EZ and Picasso IV (http://stores.ebay.com/Reds-Retro-Computing_W0QQfrsrcZ1QQfsubZ19461513QQtZkm) in the store. The 2000 is getting buttoned back up and will be in the store shortly. Of course, you can still PM me with an offer for either a single item or everything. I probably would have taken any offer north of $1,100 for the system.

Hi Rerumloa,
Being poor really sucks!
I can't stand that I missed out on a NOS A1200 about 2 or 3 years ago (I think it was you that dug it up). Never had an AGA machine. :-(
I would have bought this in a nanosecond, had I the money to.
My next major purchase is AOS4.1 later in the week.
Can I get a NatAmi? It doesn't look very promising at the moment.... No finances. :- ((((

Does that mean your ready to do some sales work for that evil old {bleep} Dammy? :-D

This latest Picasso IV will soon be on its way to some lucky fellow. :-)
Thank you redrumloa!

@ Redrumloa:
Jim, you need to send the DoomMaster a personal email on that - he'll wank himself stupid! Just make sure that if he does offer to buy it that you ask for cash first, then wait 90 days before you mail it and hit it with a sledgehammer before you hand it over to Fedex. Don't forget to send him countless abusive emails if he dares to compalin. :-D

Just saw this. I sent a PM, but I see you already split the items.
I wish you luck and hope you find some buyers!
