How (if at all possible) can you connect to the internet on winuae with a broadband connection?

There is a check box somewhere in the config called BSD socket emulation or something similar (sorry can't be more exact I'm using Linux at the moment). Check that and then you can access a network/internet.

Cheers

Yep bsdsocket.library emulation under the Host/Misc "tab".
