Title: OS 3.9 NotePad Requester *ERROR*

It's not the first time that I format my A1200T with OS3.9 today and after installing EasyNet and EasyADF ecc.ecc. and after booting the OS 3.9 if I try to open the EditPad or some other TextEditor I see a requester on the screen saying:

          Cannot Open "gadget/string.gadget",version 44

          Unable to run EditPad


do I need to format the 3th time?

hope not!

Is string.gadget in SYS:Classes/Gadgets?

Yes,

I do have string.gadget in SYS:Classes/Gadgets but the EditPad do not want to open anymore since I installed EasyADF,EasyNet and Aweb.

Any suggestion?

Actually I don't know ho to see what version is.
If I put ? at the command in cli I cannot see that!

Try copying string.gadget from the Os 3.9 CD to your harddisk.

AWeb comes with ClassAct. ClassAct is the predecessor of ReAction which comes with OS 3.9. If you install ClassAct on top of OS 3.9, you downgrade ReAction to a non-supported version. That's why all OS 3.9 programs fail. It's not only string.gadget but all gadgets, images, etc. in the Classes directory.

You should copy the entire Classes directory from your OS 3.9 CD and from then on keep your fingers from ClassAct.

If you already installed a BoingBag, you might have to install it again in order to return to the latest version.

Excellent explanation, now I understand the "reason why" of what happened. In fact, I replaced the directory and had resumed everything . But now I have the reason for what happened and this thanks to our "Thomas" !
