Title: EasyNet and NetGear Wireless MA401 *issue* please help!
Post by: Daniele on November 08, 2008, 11:25:31 PM
Hello guys,

after several months I am here again to trying EasyNet configuration to let my A1200 surf the Web.
What is happening now when I try to connect my A1200 to the Web and to the router (FlyNet Roper ADSL2 WiFi) with my PCMCIA Wireless Card bought from AmigaKit with the EasyNet is that respect last year I do not have anymore the error: Network Unreachable and it seems I do not have any error when I see the EasyNet go on line.

But it happens that if I ping the router 192.168.1.1 the CLI do not tell me anything and I keep on waiting with no answer.

My SSID has this name: ROADSL2P-WG
WEP Wireless Security is: 77 11 77 11 00
PC IP 192.168.1.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1

I have chosen

as Amiga IP 192.168.1.181

and added this as host and added the loopback to

anyway when I ping the router I cannot have any answer.

Can you help me please ????????????

here is the Log of the EasyNet set up hope this can help:

It looks like it is setup to use the secondary dns server but you have that blank, try putting the dns server address in the second dns server slot as well?

Hi,

I used the DNS's of my provider Alice Telecom Italia too
that are:

212.216.112.112
212.216.172.62

but nothing to do.

And actually I want to know if I do need these ISP DNS or just the 192.168.1.1 of my router?

Thanks

Hi,

All you need is the address of the router...

I just spotted something else, change the network type to Infrastructure and see how you go...

( From Project -> Interface Config then select the prism2.device and settings button...)

I changed with "INFRASTRUCTURE" and tried to cannect and ping 192.168.1.1 with 192.168.1.1 as DNS and with the DNS of Alice Telecom Italia but nothing!!!!

What to do now?

Many Thanks!!!

Have you tried putting the DNS ( routers address ) in the secondary DNS as well?

Are you able to ping yourself?  127.0.0.1?

I have only used the MA401 with AmiTCP, and that was a 5 minute job to set up.  I have no prior experience with EasyNet.

I'm reinstalling my A600 sometimes soon, and if you want me to document the setup for AmiTCP+MA401, let me know.

@skurk: Are you able to ping yourself? 127.0.0.1?

I have done the ping 127.0.0.1 ....

I have a never ending loop but if I break it with CTRL-D I have 100% packets transmitted and 0% lost.

Forget about DNS for the moment. You don't need it to ping numeric addresses. Does your router have a web interface that you can access from your PC, and if so, does it list connected devices so you can see if your A1200 is connected?

With what arguments is SetPrism2Defaults called from your Startup-sequence or User-startup?

@ncafferkey

1)Yes, my router has a web page of course and from there in the LAN or WAN I cannot see any other Computer connected but my PC.

2) It happens that when I re-boot the Amiga I have an error: failed retur code 20 so I have to put a ";" before the only command into the wireless-startup into idh0:/ that is the following command.

C:StePrism2Defaults SSID ROADSL2P-WG KEY 7711771100

After I put a semicolon before I can load into WB then reconfigure EasyNet and try to go online!

Help Needed Guys!

So people, my current situation by examining the log with the Debug option is as follows:

and I ask you kindly to take a look if it would not disturb!

And my PC IP is 192.168.1.2
Subnet  Mask 255.255.255.0

Amiga IP

on the Amiga Side I have 192.168.1.10 as IP Adress and what happens is that when I Ping 192.168.1.1 I have no response.

The Ping seems to freeze.

These are the settings and the debug logs:

using an ma311 netgear on pegasos2 morphos2.1 i found that it works only
with wep encryption and passwords of 5 characters. it's a limmitation
of the first generation wireless equipment.
i have set ''wep only'' and pass ''amiga'' and it's fine.
try to change this on the router and in the SetPrism2Defaults.

@ Daniele,

I'm stumped...

THe only other thing I can suggest that may help is to change the SSID name on the router to something else such as : ROADSL ; then change it to this in the easynet config also...

Reason for mentioning it is that I had an SSID with a space between tow words that worked fine with every other wireless thing in my house except for EASYNET, it baffled me for a few hours why I couldn't connect to the router but then I changed the SSID and all was fine

have you ping the amiga from the pc side? some routers as for example linksys have a ping command too at Diagnostics section.

@Daniele

127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.181 amiga

the router address in hosts, is redundant

and

Gateway Mode = Yes must be NO

PS- what a mess of configuration you got!

comment out that line also

;Use Name Server = First

@Marcb: I renamed SSID as ROAD both in Router Settings and EasyNet Comfiguartion

@amije: If I ping the Amiga from the PC I have no one answer

@Framiga: you are right I fixed the redundancy now I have 192.168.181 as Amiga and 127.0.01 as loopback.

A little step further has been done by me only disablig the WEB Key Security.

If I connect the Amiga with the EasyNet to my router without any WEP Security I
can PING 192.168.1.1 and the routers send me all the packets but if
I ping www.amiga.org or www.google.com I see the name of the LAN I have given to
my windows XP and I have no answer.

Now that I renamed the SSIDD into router and EasyNet I cannot ping 192.168.1.1
anymore. :(

I don't know what is my fault into this configuration.
Since into my Router I have:

ON - Enable WEP Wireless Security

Encryption Key: 77 11 77 11 00 of 64 bit as HEX

Authentication Type:   Open Shared Both

So I have tried into EasyNet to put the WEP key in this way ( 77 11 77 11 00 )
and I have a error 20 when I boot the Amiga) then tried the WEP Key as
7711-7711-00 Like it sees to suggest when I try to write into the field
but I cannot Ping 192.168.1.1 and same result I got if I write the WEP Key
in this way : 7711771100

My Questions are

1) What name is needed into EasyNet Network Domain Name?
2) How to communicate with the router with the WEP Key?
3) What to do to ping www.amiga.org or www.google.com or see these pages with AWeb Lite.

Thnaks and sorry to bother ya all!

as i told you at pm, check the ascii ''on'' in the wep router settings and use a 5 characters password.
test for example the password 11111.

You mustn't comment out SetPrism2Defaults from your startup scripts. This is how the wireless settings get set, so you can't use WEP otherwise. If it's giving you an error, try running it in the shell after you boot as a test. Make sure it's in C: too.

Also, don't use shared key authentication; prism2.device doesn't support it. And does your card not support 128-bit WEP?

Hello,

it happens that I have to put ; evertime I change setting beacause actually I don't know how to write correctly the WEP key into EasyNet:

77 11 77 11 00 or

7711-7711-00          like the field seems ti suggest or

7711771100

it happens that when I write 7711771100 when I reboot I have an error into CLI. But after that I comment the wireless start-up and make all the EasyNet Setting by scratch I save the configuration.

Actually I am making this attemps using 2 different routers and the one who is working when I disable the WEP KEY has only a 128 bit WEP KEY.

What can I do with the SetPrism2Defaults command if I have return code 20 when I boot the amiga?

Many Thanks Guys!!!

If I configure the Wep Key in this way : C:SetPrism2Defaults SSID ROAD KEY 7711771100

I do not have any error in the boot but I neither can manage to Ping 192.168.1.1 nor see any Web page with IBrowse.

Only without Wep Key I manage to have one answer ant the Ping 192.168.1.1 only. Nothing to do to see any web pages form the IBrowse.
