HI,
I'm currently tinkering with OS3.9 under WinUAE prior to (possibly) putting it on my A1200.
But I'm a bit disappointed at how sluggish it seems to be. I have WinUAE set up as my A1200 will be - standard apart from an 030 accelerator, 16MB fast and 4GB HDD.
I suspect the 256 colour WB is part of the reason for it crawling along...
That made me wonder whether it would be better to start with a simple and clean install of WB3.1 and build up a nice capable system from there?
By the time I 'patch-up' WB3.1 to make it a bit more functional, would it be better to try and work with 3.9?
As ever, all comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Mike.

If I was you, I would prefer an OS3.1 installation + tweaks. OS3.9 can be really nice, but I think it's much slower on a system with your specs. I've heard some good things about AmigaSys AGA (http://amigasys.extra.hu/amiga.html). Why not try that, in combination with OS3.1? You can install it under winuae, and if you like it, copy the whole configuration to your CF for use in your real A1200.

Hi Lloyd,
I've just installed AmigaSYS under WinUAE and it looks like it could be exactly what I'm after - MUCH faster than OS3.9 on my emulated A1200 030!
Thanks again for the info.
Cheers,
Mike.
