Hi guys,
I rummaged around in my "bits n pieces" box, and found a PCMCIA card.
It is a 3com Megahertz 10/100 LAN Cardbus, Model 3CCFE575BT
If so, what software do I need for it, and can I get from Aminet or other?
-
Hi,
I don't think you'll get that to work, since it's "cardbus" (32-bit?).
The PCMCIA slot in the A600 (and A1200) only suits 16-bit type-II PCMCIA cards, I believe.
Have a look at my other thread about looking for A1200 network cards - there's some helpful info there...
Cheers,
Mike.

I would have to check, but to my knowledge I've used a 3com megahertz on my A1200.
-
If it's really a Cardbus card then it will not work in an A600 or A1200.
-edit-
Your card is a Cardbus card, the gold strip with the bumps is typical of Cardbus.

Ahh, thanks guys. I'm a newbie to PCMCIA stuff. This is the EXACT card I have pictured odin, so it won't work.
Thanks for letting me know about the other thread mingle, I found a list of cards that will work from the mentioned thread. I find it a lot cheaper and easier than an "Amiga 600/1200" specific listed card on ebay from euro or something. :)

check the guide of cnet.device (http://aminet.net/driver/net/cnetdevice.lha) and 3c589.device (http://aminet.net/driver/net/3c589.lha) for a compatibility list of working pcmcia cards on amiga.
you can search ebay too for a netgear ma401 wireless which works with the prism2.device (http://aminet.net/driver/net/prism2.lha) :-)

That is exactly the same card I have been using on my A1200. Unless there are different version, I will check this when I get back at home.

you can't feet this card in amiga's pcmcia, not to mention that amiga works with
16bit 5volt cards and this one is 32bit 3,3volt.
here is the right stuff: ma401 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NETGEAR-MA401-16-Bit-802-11b-PCMCIA-Wi-Fi-card-16bit_W0QQitemZ140278988814QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item140278988814&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318)

And remember that prism2.device for WLAN-cards requires KS3.x, so it won't work on default ROM on A600.
For unexpanded A600 it's best to get 3com or ne2k compatible card which specs suit for the lists available on drivers' archives.

And there's also lots of other wireless cards which will work with the same device.
For example Lucent and Orinoco cards (Bronze, Silver, Gold) work fine.

Ah there we are. Mine is 3CCE589EC without the golden thingy.

@pVC: i don't know about kickstart issues you may be right about them
and sure there are others cards that they will work.
i've just bought the ma401 and i'm sure it's working with my amiga,
as ma311 pci works with the pagasos and morphos.
