Title: Getting online with Classic WB
Post by: ami_junki on November 03, 2008, 12:05:30 PM
I guess this has been asked many times before but I was wondering what is the best way and cheapest way to get an A1200 with Classic WB and 28 mhz 030 and 8 mb ram onto the net?  I would like to use DHCP if possible.  I realise it will be slow but just for checking emails, messaging and text browsing.

well....
DHCP, i wouldn't worry about. just pick an IP address that is high in the DHCP range that is fairly unlikely to be assigned by the DHCP server to anything else and use that.

i use easynet from amigakit with one of my A1200's and a wifi card.
and the genesis TCP/IP pack on the 3.9 CD for another machine.

to be honest, an 030 is fine for skurfing the web on nice easy sites like amiga.org or aminet.net. things like fblit help the images too....

OK cool, sounds easy enough :) ok so the Easy net kit from Amiga kit is good, nice, will have to order that then.  Cheers!  will remember to activate fBlit then in Classic WB!   Should be fun.

yup :-) ibrowse (even with its 30min timeout) and aweb are enough to surf most amiga related websites.
even on 4 colours its surprisingly useable

granted i just read and post in here and download from aminet or where-ever from the miggy, just don't expect non-o-that you-tube nonsense, or farcebook malarky to work :-D
