Title: A4000T video slots
Post by: orange on October 31, 2008, 08:32:11 PM
I've noticed A4000T (AT) has two video slots. Does that mean you could use them both at once? (for eg. cv64/3d scandoubler in one slot and some gfx card in other)

What GFX card will you install into a video slot?

I'd like to try with CV64 (not 3D).
so its CV64 in one slot and CV64/3Dscandoubler in other

I am sure the CV64 wants a Zorro3 slot not a video slot.

Both video slots in the A4000T work but to the best of my memory, only the Video Toaster / Video Flyer were used in those slots at the same time.

Video cards like the CV64, Picasso IV used other slots.  Even the great Cybervision PPC video card didn't use a video slot (on the A4000T)... it used a connector on the CyberStorm MK3 or CyberStormPPC.

itsanfo: I'm pretty sure the Flyer doesn't use a video slot,
video is passed to it by the internal ribbon cable from the Toaster.
BBoAH also makes no mention of the Flyer using the video slot.
I have heard from others that you could use a VT and a PicassoIV
in one A4000T, but obviously not at the same time, as the Toaster
takes over the Amiga (by brute force, I might add :)

I can only tell you that I had that setup working fine in an A4000 Desktop.

i.e.

Phase 5 scandoubler in video slot linked with its short cable to a CV64/3D which slotted in further back in the bottom slot of the daughterboard.

I also had a CV64 in the Zorro slot above, and could feed the phase 5 scandoublers output straight into the CV64's input if I wanted to use that card instead. Both cards could remain  fitted in the A4000 (no need to take one out to use the other)
