Title: Which OS should I use?
Post by: theformula on October 24, 2008, 10:18:44 PM
Hi I am building up a classic system and I was wondering which OS you guys would recommend. I ran amigasys 4 on it and it was very ustable and slow. I was wondering if dopus maggellan was worth getting or scarlos. I aim to get a (not flashy) but stable system. I am running 030 8mb. I currently run workbench 3.5 wondering if there is anything better for classic.

Basically I put a massive hard disk into it and I wanna use it with whdload and as many games I can fit on it. Also old programs like ppaint and scala. I want something that can cope with lots of files in an organised way and not use up all my resources + not crash all the time

If it's for gaming and occasional programs, stick with OS3.1 and patch that up.

I'd say a patched up 3.1 installation. Should leave as much resources free as possible for your gaming and classic productivity.

For games and demos: 3.1 + toolsdaemon, powerwindows, fblit, ftext, blazewcp.

Why is the UAE version an exe?  Guess I'll try it in a disposable VMWare Fusion machine...
