Title: RocTec RocHard questions
Post by: countzero on October 23, 2008, 03:15:54 PM
The RocTec RocHard (http://bboah.amiga-resistance.info/cgi-bin/showhardware_en.cgi?HARDID=571) unit is a rather sweet device with both IDE and SCSI interfaces. Does anybody know if these can be used simultaneously ? FE, a CF card on the internal IDE and a SCSI CDROM on the external SCSI port ? Are there seperate devices available for both ? (aka roctec_ide.device and roctec_scsi.device ?)

Also, I see that this unit supports NCR53C400 SCSI controller. How does this compare to GVP's or A590's WD controllers ?

Also, about the IDE, does anyone know how good the device driver is ? How big drives and partitions it can support ?

I had one of these, and to be honest, I was never pleased with it. I never was able to get it working well, and was never able to get it to pick up my external SCSI CD drive, while it was almost plug and play when connecting the same external SCSI drive to my GVP HD8+.

I used to have one too (years ago), and found it to be a royal pain. I sold it off and bought another GVP interface.
