Post by: leirbag28 on August 29, 2003, 12:23:00 AM
Check out these idiots who think that they have come up with a completely new concept!
Just like when they thought Plug & Play was something new! haha! Oh Boy how do they get away with this?

there is one new feature (besides someone having to mod their case for a slimline CD)

"To help protect your Zero-Footprint-PC, Cybernet has designed a keyboard skin that protects the machine against spills."

See? No expensive repairs after spilling your rootbeer.

I'd kinda enjoy having something like that to run AROS on, but not for those prices. Also, it would be better if it had 1 AGP and 1 PCI slot and no onboard video. Atleast you would have a bit more for upgrades later on.

Uh, there have been PCs like that for ages.. Several different models.

The earliest I remember is the Schneider Euro PC (http://perso.club-internet.fr/musepat/europc.htm)

The Cybernetman Zero-Footprint PC has been on sale for as long as there has been "modern" clamshell-type laptops.  I remember seeing ads for it in the back of business-related PC magazines at least 10 years ago.

The Z-F PC is made from a "standard" laptop  motherboard and drives.  The original intent of the thing was to be competition for diskless (i.e. no floppy) workstations back when those things were "all the rage."  ;-)

And as for the "PC that looks like an A1200" bit, I think you are doing a bit of a  disservice to the A500, Atari ST, Commodore 64, Vic-20, Atari 8-bits, Apple ][, and the original TRS-80, :-D

(Not to mention, Acorns, Sinclairs, and bunches of other "keyboard computers" I don't remember or don't know about.) :-)

 edit - spelling

To add to this excitement we will go ahead and say that we are busy with an A1200 style AmigaOne.  We will keep everone posted.

I used to own an old 8086 XT that was all in one unit like the 500, it had an internal 5.25" disk drive and a monocrhome+CGA monitor connecters in the back etc. It died a long time ago :)

I remember reading an ad many years ago where the machine was the same principle as the 1200, touting the new initiative this company had with its all in one unit, internal HD etc. I laughed so much, then cried when I realised most PC users at the time would think C= where cloning the idea etc and use it as some sad excuse for an argument.

The Tandy 1000 was a PC in a keyboard case and it was quite popular.
