Title: PSU for GVP devices
Post by: Lockon_15 on October 11, 2008, 07:45:20 PM
Can anyone confirm power supply unit for Commodore 1541 disk drive can be also used on GVP A500 HD8+ or GVP A530?

I constructed mine using a PC power supply. The connector of the GVP HD8+ is easily available and cheap (3 or 4 dollars). Found the pin descriptions in Internet.

Just jumper CN2 and CN3, and dont use an old ancient huge power-hogging drive.. (anything made from the early 90s, on should do..)

And the whole thing will run off the A500's internal power..

Thnx guys,

but I already did that hack (my A530 drains power from A500). This works perfectly.

The problem is I also have Subway USB controller connected through clockport and there are some issues when USB/Ethernet adapter plugs in. I just wanted to rule out power distribution/stability problem getting A530 it's native PSU so further troubleshooting could be focused on Poseidon USB stack.
