Title: Bernoulli SCSI and HDToolbox
Post by: hamtronix on October 09, 2008, 11:16:26 PM
SO what does it mean if my drive shows up in the GVP formatting program but not the HDToolbox? Also, any hint on settings if I have to format through GVP program to get it to appear?

You need a proper Bernoulli handler, like QuaterbackTools6 or other backup program.

Those units are just for backup, anyway.

I was hoping to backup the files on the 2 HDs to it so I can reformat them... any chance i can do that with any of the software on WB?

Nope, grab a copy of AmibackTools or QuarterBackTools (my personal choice) and be happy. :-)

hmmm, is HD toolbox set to the right device name?
scsi.device for A600/1200/4000 IDE & A4000T scsi
cybppc.device, blizzppc.device, 1230scsi.device, gvpscsi.device... etc. etc...
should be in the icon info

AmibackTools or QuarterBackTools

Any chance there is a PD prog that can do what these can? or a PD prog that can just get it up and running. I only want to make sure to secure the data on the HDs not  use the Bern as a regular drive.

Actually a real Bernoulli drive is a disk system with removable media - these should work directly just like a ZIP drive (its successor).
Also marketed under the same name (AFAIR) where Bernoulli tapes, which you'll need tape software for.

That is what mine is :

It is a CD I believe in a case. I thought it would just show up on WB 3.1 too but it may need be formatted with GVP first? I wasnt sure exactly what to enter in the manual format to get the most out of it and when I go to the auto format option it gives an error.

That's the removable disk system. You should be able to partition and format a disk with the GVP HD prep software.
