Title: Formatting HD - International mode?
Post by: RMK305 on October 09, 2008, 08:45:51 PM
Just formatting a hard drive and notice the International Mode option was ticked. What exactly is this and do I want it?

Thanks,

Robert

International mode allows FFS to handle filenames with international characters.

I'll go with that then when formatting.

Thanks.

Actually ALL OFS/FFS versions can handle accented/international chars, but only the international versions handle their upper and lower cases correctly, i.e. 'ä' matches 'Ä'. Except for compatibility reasons this is the way to go for all newly formatted partitions.

I'm doing all partitions with the international mode. Just 1 more partition to go and then it's time to start installing stuff.  :-D
