Title: Amigakit.com Easynet problem
Post by: tribz on September 29, 2008, 05:47:15 PM
Weird problem with my Amigakit.com Easynet installation.

I've installed the PCMCIA network drives to devs from the install disk.

When I click online, a shell window pops up and then goes quickly and I get the error message "AmiTCP/IP version 3 or later must be started first"

Bit further,

I had to put something in the settings/network name box. Now it goes on line. I can ping google.co.uk ok but if I try to access it in ibrowse or aweb, the page cant load ... it seems to be looking for what I've put in the network name.

This sounds like a DNS problem - please check your DNS settings.

But he can ping google.co.uk? How can it be DNS if google.co.uk is resolved to an IP address?

Sorry- I misread it as he was pinging the IP of google.

Actually it was DNS but a strange one! If I use 208.67.222.222 for my DNS setting which is an opendns server, I can ping fine from shell but AWEB keeps looking for sitename + networkname ie www.google.co.uk.be.there.co.uk (bethere.co.uk is my ISP).

I've changed the DNS address to the local IP address of the router which in turn uses Be's crappy DNS servers and it then resolves properly in AWEB also.

I'm online tho so I'm happy! Thanks for the help.
