Title: Analogic Computers
Post by: impactor on September 27, 2008, 11:41:41 PM
Every now and again I come across Analogic Computers website, whilst searching for Amiga info, etc :-)

I remember these guys, as they always advertised in Amiga magazines.  So I thought I might as well mention them here as, apparently, they still sell Amiga's and parts... might be of interest to someone?

The have CD32's listed for £24 (+p&p), thought that was pretty reasonable.

Didn't they have a bad reputation on repairs ? I guess it should be OK for purchases of NOS etc  :-?

Indeed, with no controller and no software ... very reasonable.

A 2nd user 14" monitor for £132.19 + shipping ... I'll take 2

Analogic sell through ebay with a small markup, the same PAL CD32's with a PSU for £5 more

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360083843410

or together with a CD32FWSI's (the Floppy disk addon) for a not unreasonable price on ebay of £60.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360083100596

Or the CD32FWSI on it's own for £35

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170256652271

I'd like to have known how many CD32FWSI's they had, the do not seem to be running out :-)

While not worth that much, Microvitec dual standard monitors (15KHz and 31KHz) which do not need a scandoubler are worth a bit more than your ordinary VGA monitor.

I have to agree with Homers comment on their bad reputation for repairs. Some years ago I sent them an A1200 MoBo for repair. I left the screws for the back ports in place and when it came back they did not sent the screws back and the MoBo was not fully functional, good job I had a spare. My brother sent them his A4000T for repair and that was not repaired properly and despite him packing it well in bubble wrap and the original packaging, it got damaged on the return journey by the courier.

Thanks for the info guys.

Just checked out Analogics eBay feedback, and it is pretty good - they even got feedback for a CD32 with floppy drive last Monday (22nd September)  :-D

I recently bought a NOS A1200 from them and had no problems at all. They swapped the keyboard for a UK layout and the computer was put back together properly and re-packaged in the Magic Pack box as if it had never been opened.

BTW I am not trying to imply they are bad, I personally have no opinion.
