Title: History Channel just claimed Playstation 1st disk based system
Post by: redrumloa on September 26, 2008, 01:03:06 AM
I have History Channel on in the background and something caught my ear. They just said something to the effect "The Playstation was released in 1994 and was the first disk based system".

Eeer, what happened to the CDTV in 1991 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga_CDTV) or even the Philips CD-i in 1991 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD-i) ??

I remember Sony claiming the first transisitor radio but that was really done first by a small company called Regency in Indianapolis.Too many of today's historians are too lazy to research properly.

"disc", no, we all know the truth round these parts.

"disk", no, too, and what system was that then, Apple II? It had a disk drive build in so I guess could be called "disk based". Then again, I think also so did the TRS-80. Which came first?

@weirdami

Disc not disk.

In this context disc meant CD/DVD.
