Title: WHLoad
Post by: Jamppa on September 22, 2008, 02:27:42 PM
I've recently bought a 4,5gb hardrive for my A600, which already has WHLoad on it. When I click on a game a registration box appears on the screen telling me to get registered. How do I do this? and how do i make the appropriate changes on my A600? Sorry in advance for the dumb question!

Do it, its worth it.

The plus side is, it buys Bert (Wepl) some more beers to keep him fired up to do more coding for it :)

Not to mention you will also be able to play WHDLoad installs that will ONLY run on a registered version.

You will get emailed a key file, that goes anywhere in the system Path (usually L: ) because when you launch WHDLoad it will search the System path for the Keyfile.

Yep, definately register WHDLoad, I was very late in doing so, but very glad I did so... OK, the fine print... sometimes original disks may have errors, a certain version of a game won't install, etc... But, considering what WHDLoad can do, it's pretty amazing..

whiteb: I thought keyfiles always went in S: Ack!

I wonder how many WHDload registered users there are now?

P.S.: I think that the key to WhdLoad is personal. The name and address of the original legal owner is in the keyfile.

It's simply fantastic, well worth registering. (Though hopefully the moonstone install will get fixed one of these days... /whine :-))

My only complaint with it is now I have games cluttering up about 300MB on my HD, and am going through joysticks at an incredible rate, getting metacarple tunnel syndrome, and stay in my basement all day playing games that were released in the early 90's, and having a social life equivalent to a geek!! Er.. wait, I am a geeek... never mind... (A pretty good deal for $30US, though  :-D )

WHDLoad.key.Readme

Many thanks for your registration. With this you support the
further development of WHDLoad. Please don't spread this key.

The location for this key is variable.
WHDLoad searchs for the key in the following order:

   S:
   L:
   DEVS:
   LIBS:
PROGDIR:    (the directory where WHDLoad is located)
   path in environment variable KEYPATH
   path in environment variable KEYFILES

Just copy the key in one of these directories.

Register!
I did, because I often use WHDLoad, great program that makes retro gaming a lot easier on my Amiga :-)

I can honestly say that WHDLoad has proven to be the best money I've ever spent on my Amiga. It actually makes using my Amiga more convenient than emulating and that's pretty freaky.

Probably the only software I've registered twice.  (Thrice if you count JST too.. :-D)  Well worth the money.
