Title: The end of Overpriced Ebay Hardware?
Post by: Robert17 on September 22, 2008, 09:17:23 AM
Morning folks, just thought I'd ask folks opinions on this:

Recently I sold an Amiga 2000 68060 card on ebay, which went for £152, and a Cybervision 3D, which went for £41.

Amiga hardware usually goes for 'silly money' on ebay,

Do we think that the release of newer hardware in the form of The Efika, with MorphOS 2.1 and the Sam440EP with OS 4.1 is affecting the secondhand classic market? Will it be a temporary thing, or is it a sign that we're finally abandoning old early nineties hardware, and moving with the times?  :-)

Do Discuss  :-D

Robert

I think you were just unlucky Robert. I saw a CSMKIII go for £475.00 and a CV64 go for £165.00 on Ebay just yesterday. A CSPPC also went for £750 recently. Scandoublers are still making well over £100 too.

I hope prices have not bombed, im just about to pile some of the hoarded gear on to ebay myself..

The cv64 for £165 was very odd. £40-80 seems to be the norm, i sold one for £70 ish a couple of months ago and was quite happy..

£475 fir the CSMKIII is silly too..

Another thing that keeps the price down, is shipping only to UK.

yup. excluding the entire world cuts your bidder base down a whole lot.

Oh, absolutely. Definitely. I've seen lots of fancy hardware on eBay which is "UK only" or "US only".

I'm tired of sending those "Do you ship to Norway?" emails.  70% of the time the answer is "no".  20% "yes" but without shipping costs, and 10% won't even reply.

So, usually when I see items unavailable to my place, I just skip it and keep on searching for other options.

The "UK only" auction restriction killed your prices.

Somebody obviously thinks there is still a market for big prices.
