Title: ROM and HD problems on A1200
Post by: mat80it on August 26, 2003, 07:08:42 PM
I've just bought a new A1200. It seems to work fine, but, after I quit the early startup screen, the screen turns RED and the Power LED winks for a couple of seconds. Then it boots. Is there anything wrong with the ROM?
I've also a problem with the HD. I've happened to use some old games that cause the Amiga to crash (I'll try a degrader). When it reboots the HD LED goes on and the only way to access the HD is to turn off the computer (I think the IDE cable used to connect the HD has been modified to prevent the HD form resetting after pressing ctrl+left A+right A). Is there a way to avoid the problem?
May the two problems be connected?
Thank you,
                     Mat.

Taken from a.org FAQ.

Red
ROM error, reseat or replace Kickstart ROMS (this can also be caused by worn insulation covering the back end of the pins that connect an IDE cable to a hard drive, aka short)
Hope this helps!
